Volga-Dnepr, Gazprom and others form Eurasian SAF alliance to drive Sustainable Aviation Fuel usage.

[Airport Technology] Russian airline holding firm Volga-Dnepr Group, along with several other organisations, has signed a declaration to create the Eurasian sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) alliance.

Other members of the alliance include Airbus, Aeroflot Airlines, National Research Center Zhukovsky Institute, Gazprom Neft, Federal State Unitary Enterprise State Research Institute of Civil Aviation and S7 Group.

The alliance has been established to develop a ‘favourable ecosystem’ to increase the production of SAF in Russia and promote its usage.

All the members of the association will draft a roadmap to achieve the objective through joint efforts.

Denis Fisenko, Volga-Dnepr Group unit AirBridgeCargo Airlines general director said:

Volga-Dnepr Group is one of the major air cargo market players in the world.

“From our side, we are taking actions to mitigate a negative environmental impact, initiatives aimed at fuel consumption efficiency, deployment of eco-friendly freighters with lower CO₂ emissions, the introduction of GoGreen initiatives and, most importantly, our efforts to increase load factor and guarantee that we transport vital cargoes other than empty space.”

“The creation of the Eurasian SAF alliance is another step towards a more sustainable air cargo industry. We believe that only collaboration and joint efforts will help us to overcome the barriers preventing SAF introduction in Russia.”

According to Volga-Dnepr Group, this coalition is an open and inclusive network to carry out activities along the whole SAF value chain.

Participants include fuel producers, airlines, aircraft manufacturers, engine manufacturers, research organisations and airports.
