Shell launches HVO offer across German stations
Shell has launched its HVO100 diesel offer at a German service station in Hermsdorf, Thuringia, with further locations to follow in the coming months.
Branded as “Shell Renewable Diesel,” this product is mainly produced from biogenic waste and residual materials such as used cooking oil. Capable of reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 90%, the fuel is obtained by hydrogenation and isomerization of renewable raw materials.
Sönke Kleymann, Shell Commercial Road Transport Manager Germany, Austria and Switzerland, explains :
With Shell Renewable Diesel, we want to help truck and vehicle fleet operators in particular to decarbonize the transport sector and comply with legal emissions regulations,
Thus, the product complies with the European standard EN15940 for paraffinic diesel fuel with the abbreviation XTL. Currently, the company offers it in Belgium, Finland, the Netherlands, Norway and Sweden.
In the coming months, Shell plans to launch the renewable diesel at further stations in Germany and Austria as it already offers it through brand and sales partners.
